Annual Picnic & Star Party

Field Trip & Observing is bringing flash star parties in addition to the HAS Annual Picnic! Our very active SIGs, i.e. special interest groups, will be conducting how-tos and guided observing out on the field. The Annual Picnic & Star Party is chaired by Walt Cooney, FT&O chairperson.

About the Society

HAS is an active community of enthusiastic amateur astronomers with over 60 years of history in the Houston area. Membership has a variety of benefits, including access to a secure dark site west of Houston, a telescope loaner program, and much more. Joining our club is simple; you can sign up online or by mail.

A Note From the Novice Program Chairperson

Interested in astronomy and don’t know where to begin? Well, you’ve found the right place!

Why not come and join us as a guest? We can help you learn to use your telescope or binoculars. And if you don’t own an instrument, we can give you some practical advice on how and where to begin.

Should you become a member, we’ll even loan you a telescope to get you started. We’ll have star parties during the year and you can have an opportunity to learn from experienced observers.
