About the General Meeting Presentation
Does Jupiter’s Great Red Spot change shape over time? What causes oval storms on Jupiter to change speed? Richard Schmude will explore these two questions in a presentation that focuses on the red and white oval storms on Jupiter. Richard will describe the WinJUPOS software package and present his measurements of over two dozen oval features on Jupiter, including measurements of the Great Red Spot and Oval BA made during 2011 and 2012. Richard will also describe one particular oval that changed speed around October 1, 2011, and discuss possible causes for this change. Finally, Richard will present some ideas for future work.
