Great Night!! Seeing was good temp was low.
Thanks to everyone who came out.
There were 7 people 5 scopes and 1 pesky mosquito in attendance. (1) 80mm refractor, (1) 12" dob (1) 8" Dob (1) 18" Obsession(Dob) and (1)8"schmidt.
There were so many objects we we were able to see I lost count.
M79, M6(Butterfly Cluster, M41, M42, M45, and a few more. Last but not least Jupiter but it was really to low to see well until about 9:45.
Next month Jupiter should be a good target earlier in the evening.
started packing up around 10:15.

Thanks to everyone who came out. Hope to see ya at the next meet up!!!!

Attention HAS Astronomers:
Pop-up Star Party / Urban Observing at GBP(George Bush Park) -
Thursdayt 07-07-20016

If it's clear Thursday 07-07-2016 those of you who would like to try out any new equipment you received, Need help with equipment, need a darker spot to observe Or just hang out and talk astronomy.
At the usual site in George Bush Park on the West side of Houston.
The northern dead-end parking lot of S. Barker Cypress at Westheimer Parkway.
We try to set up Around the East end of the parking lot to avoid Headlight glare from the Stoplight and people arriving also this helps avoid the tree line to the West.
Stargazers should be arriving 7:30 to 8:30, and often stay until 10-11 depending on weather.
DRESS ACCORDINGLY and DON"T FORGET MOSQUITO SPRAY

Great time last night at George Bush Park! Thanks to all that ventured out. In all there was 9 people and 5 scopes( 10" dob, Meade 8"Schmidt, Celestron 8"schmidt, 5" Maksutov, Coranado Solar, .We Got to see polar ice caps on mars, M13, M6, Jupiter, Saturn, Mars, Moon, M17, Hubble Space Telescope (Twice!) and Joe got to show of some new hardware and test out his ETX 125. It was a great time, and nice to finally get out and do some observing after all the rain we'd had lately. I was afraid I wouldn't get a chance to observe Mars while it's still relatively close.

If it's clear tomorrow night 10-26-2016 those of you who need help with or would like to try out any new equipment, Come on out and use your new scope, gizmo, eyepiece, whatchama doodlie astro defractownian hyper tube mount assembly!!!!


At the usual site in George Bush Park on the West side of Houston.

Bring mosquito repellent, chair dress appropriately.

Interested in attending an observation party/get together at George Bush Park. Any interest soon? Not sure where to get Netslyder. Is it a phone app? Reason I ask is I live about 2 miles away and it is very doable for me at short notice. Even if there is no "formal gathering", will the local law give me any problems back there? Thanks
