We try and practice light rules as much as we can but we are not strict about it.

I stayed until 11:30. Even though the clouds were angry I got to meet a few new HAS members. We got to discuss everything from Telescope set ups to video games and Live Steam trains to Video Astro Photography. Folks this is what it's all about. Even if you don't see much there is plenty to do and talk about in between clouds.

Urban Observing at George Bush Park is a viable alternative if you can't make it out to Columbus or you want to take your new scope for a spin. It is darker than the city and closer than Columbus. I assure you there is plenty to do and see there.
Thanks Mr. Herbster for the picture. It was nice meeting you and I hope to see you there again.
Thanks to everyone else that showed!!
Clear Skies,
Steve Munsey

We had 4 scopes out last night and 8 people showed. the sky was not as clear as WU led me to believe but we had a great timeAfter the haze cleared a little. Dennis G, Buster W, Mark W, Mark F, Steve M, Steve, Jim, Hudson Some did video astronomy some did visual some did DSLR digital Astrophotography. we left about 11:30 the dew was getting pretty thick. All in all I'm glad I went out with the Moon nearly in full force it was good practice. Also Saturn is getting pretty low. even with the Moon we managed M13, M57 in Dennis Grigassy Sr.'s 10" DOB!!! Of course Saturn and the Moon .Pic below is of Jim's CCD Imaging Kit tracking Saturn. See Ya'll next time!!!!

Attention HAS - FBAC astronomers:

Pop-up Star Party / Urban Observing at GBP - Tonight Monday 10-19-2015

Yeah I know its Monday and yeah I know the moons up but look at the weather this week.
If you don't get out tonight it might be a while before we get clear skies

At the usual site in George Bush Park on the west side of Houston.
The northern dead-end parking lot of S. Barker Cypress at Westheimer Parkway.

Stargazers should be arriving 7:00-7:30, and often stay until 10-11 depending on weather.
Weather tonight looks great.
Bring mosquito repellent.

Hope to see some of you there.
