I just joined today. I've been doing astronomy for a little over 46 years now, 95% visual with some EAA thrown in. I live about 25 miles southwest of Houston in the little town of Wallis. Growing up here, I can remember when the skies here were around Bortle 2 but unfortunately the skyglow from Houston is taking over the sky.

The dark sky info shows me to be in Bortle 4.5 or so and I still do astronomy from home; the view to the east, west, south and even northwest are not bad but Houston washes out the northeast. I don't have an observatory but do have a permanent pier on my 5.5 acre home place with light blocking fence surrounding it.

My equipment list is: ES 16" truss DOB, Celestron 14" Edge SCT, 10" Apetura DOB, Celestron 9.25" Edge SCT, ES 152mm triplet refractor with feathertouch focuser, Celestron 102mm refractor used mostly with my Quark or Solar wedge for solar observing, ES 80mm triplet for widefield EAA, lots of ES and Televue eyepieces, ZWO ASI 294 PRO camera and my first "real" telescope the little 60mm Sears refractor.
