Thanks.

First recorded observation, NGC 2362, was logged Jan 25, 1986 on my almost brand spankin' new C8+. I was 14.
I still have that scope too.

Congrats Chris! Hopefully it doesn't take me quite so long. I've still got a long way to go though

Me, too :D
Only took me 8 years. 257 objects star-hopped, 143 objects via GoTo.

Observing locations: Anahuac, Columbus, Eldorado, Fort Davis, Galveston, and Montgomery, Texas.
Resources (for advance study, planning, and verification): Kepple, et al The Night Sky Observer's Guide Vols 1, 2, 3; O'Meara's Herschel 400 Observing Guide.

Once you start doing the Herschels, especially if switching to goto, you really have to study the objects ahead of time otherwise you won't know you've actually seen what you were attempting to see. So expect to put in lots of desk time, too. I use printed observing guides. Maybe there are good guides online now, too, but I find the printed guides easier and more inclusive as they generally go constellation by constellation. Except for O'Meara's. He goes by best objects to see night by night by month/season.
