Got back into astrophotography tonight as I used my iPhone 7 Plus with new NightCap app to photograph the 11.8 day old Waxing Gibbous moon. I photographed at about 30 power through the 20mm eyepiece using my TV 85 telescope from my back yard. I am including my original photo and one that I cropped and processed in LightRoom for comparison. It was hard to photograph as the moon is so bright as it’s going to be full next week.
Jupiter and Saturn were nearby and saw four moons in line above Jupiter at about ten o’clock but could not get photos because of our trees in South.
I also saw the Hubble Space Telescope go overhead but could get a photo of it. Check out Heavens-Above for more info on satellites. It was a good evening and fun to do astrophotography again. I hope you enjoy!
